BigWorld-Powered World of Tanks Wins “Best Use of Online” Develop Award

from the awards desk

This week, game industry pioneers and visionaries joined together for the Develop Industry Excellence Awards ceremony. The Develop Awards recognizes “creative, commercial and technical smarts” in the gaming industry.

We’re happy to hear that BigWorld-Powered World of Tanks took home the “Use of Online” award, beating out the developers of EVE Online, Minecraft, and Playstation Home.

A pretty big feat for a game that just went live a little over a year ago.  But in that time span they have broken world records on BigWorld Server Technology and brought in nearly 30 million players.

See the list of all categories and winners here.

Congrats to World of Tanks!

BigWorld-Powered World of Tanks 7.5 Update – Initial Details

Monday, July 9th, 2012, posted by Kris

from the Tanks desk

The first details regarding the upcoming 7.5 update for BigWorld-Powered World of Tanks have surfaced on Wargaming.net’s official site.

The hottest additions include new top tier medium tanks and tank destroyers.

“The introduction of new Tier 10 medium tanks and tank destroyers opens up massive new possibilities and choices for players looking for heavy firepower and armor.”

And if you are a newer player, don’t fret, because Update 7.5 still has you covered.

“…we’re always committed to all of our players and the new lower-tier choices and maps will appeal to anyone looking for a fresh World of Tanks experience.”

So you’re not a newbie or an experienced vet? This update also will add features to those who fall in the expansive  middle-ground level grind.

“Update 7.5 will also give fans of lower-tiered tanks new options, including the Tier 5 French light tank ELC AMX, the Tier 8 German JagdPanther II tank destroyer and Tier 6 Dickermax premium tank destroyer, as well as the Tier 8 American T26E4 Super Pershing premium medium tank.”

From what we’re seeing, this update looks to have something for just about everyone in World of Tanks. And if you feel left out, just keep checking back to see us cover what else this update will have to offer.

Aeria’s Unified Game System Released

from the game platform desk

Aeria Games, the publisher behind BigWorld-Powered Realm of the Titans and Kingdom Heroes Online, just released their new Aeria Ignite game platform.

Ignite allows you to launch all of your Aeria games from one location under a single Aeria Games account, as well as download new games and play browser-based titles. This platform not only streamlines your gaming accessibility, but also adds in plenty of social features. Like Valve’s Steam, you can view what games your friends are playing, as well as message them through the integrated chat system.

Here’s all of the features that accompany the Aeria Ignite platform.

Launch all of your games
Play Browser games
Download new games
Message Friends
See full conversations
Check out what games your friends have been playing
Get news tailored for your games
Get content exclusive to Ignite users

If you’re getting a case of deja vu while reading this, it might be because Wargaming.net just announced a similar platform at this year’s E3 (video). Like Ignite, it will allow you to keep all of Wargaming.net’s BigWorld-Powered titles under the same account and launch them from a central location. Our extensive blog post on the announcement can be seen here.

Around the time of this announcement there was some discussion in the World of Tanks and Warplanes forums about how if this “Universal Game Platform” will become a standard among MMO developers. Considering these two leading MMO companies are backing this kind of unified game system for their titles, there is a pretty big chance that this will become common practice in the industry.

Wargaming.net’s Universal Game Platform has not yet been released, but Aeria’s Ignite is up and ready for you to try out. Just download it here and play some Realm of the Titans!
