BigWorld Pty Ltd ( www.bigworldtech.com ), a global leader in middleware game technology, develops the driving technology behind enVie’s VIE™: Virtual Island of Entertainment, which recently launched its open beta.

California-based developer enVie Interactive LLC has built its 3D virtual world, titled Virtual Island of Entertainment (VIE), using BigWorld Technology. The virtual world has just launched in open beta. The virtual world has just launched in open beta this week. VIE is a 3D virtual world with social game elements, and is set on an island where people can meet, play and indulge through live events, games, quests and mysterious adventures.
BigWorld Technology is an online game middleware technology that has been licensed by game development studios worldwide. enVie licensed the software to leverage its full range of proven online game development tools, including a next-gen game client, content creation tools, and a server solution capable of scaling to handle record-numbers of concurrent users.

VIE offers an experience somewhere between traditional massively-multiplayer online games and casual games, and largely appeals to the female demographic. enVie licensed BigWorld Technology in order to focus much more on innovative design, instead of getting bogged down in tool development and troubleshooting, a service included in the BigWorld license. The observable result has been a high-quality experience that is being enjoyed by more and more users each day.
